Grand Palais : an architectural masterpiece in Paris

Grand Palais is without question one of Paris's most iconic landmarks. It is located beside the River Seine at the eastern end of the Champs-Élysées, not far from Place de la Concorde. The building is perhaps the city's finest example of Beaux-Arts architecture, as is reflected in its ornate facades. Construction of the palace began in 1897 but the building was not fully inaugurated until 1900. During the First World War the building was used as a military hospital, with local artists being used to decorate the rooms. Today, it hosts a variety of events, exhibitions and trade shows, showcasing everything from photography to antiques. Grand Palais : Saut Hermès, an impressive showjumping in Paris

One of the most unusual and visually impressive events taking place at the palace this year is Saut Hermès, from 12-14 April. This is a showjumping event like no other, and it is now a permanent fixture on the annual equestrian calendar. Organised by the prestigious fashion house Hermès, the event attracts some of the finest riders and horses from all over the world.

There are several competitions on each day of the event, including those for young riders. To witness horsemanship of this calibre at such an iconic venue is an experience you'll treasure forever.
